Customer Acknowledgement

Before purchase, please read the following Q & A to meet customer “expectations,” and fill out the form below that you understand the benefits and limitations of the HousePure Scale Stop product.

When my water evaporates, will spots be left behind if I install a HousePure Scale Stop?

Yes! Any time there are minerals in your water, and when the water evaporates, spots will be left behind. The difference is that the spots will be easy to remove as compared to actual hard water scaling.

Then why would I want the Scale Stop?

With Scale Stop the mineral spots left behind after the water evaporates are what we call “soft scale.” The soft scale can be removed with a damp cloth. You should not need any chemicals to clean the wetted surface.

What is the difference between soft scale and what I see on my fixtures and glass shower door?

With regular hard water spots, unless you wipe them off before they dry, they will be difficult to remove and might require harsh chemicals (Lime Away®).

The soft scale from the HousePure Scale Stop product will wipe off with a damp cloth even when dry. The important thing to remember is to clean on a regular basis (every 3 to 5 days). If left alone, many minerals that are typically found in water can become difficult to remove if allowed to build up over time.

Are there any other benefits I will receive from using the Scale Stop product?

Yes, the twin tank HousePure Scale Stop is made up of a whole house water filter that will improve the taste and overall quality of your water. The second tank has the uniquely manufactured special Scale Stop resin media. Hard minerals are, in effect, attracted to the resin media and held in suspension until they pass harmlessly through your households plumbing pipes.

Why would I not consider a conventional water softener or conditioner?

The time honored and best solution to hard water is a traditional water softener. Soft scale will be experienced just like with the HousePure Scale Stop product.

Many areas have banned water softeners because of the build up of “salts” in the wastewater stream. This makes water reuse difficult for many municipalities.

Additionally, many people want to address the negative effects of hard water and are concerned for the environment because of added salts.

When should I not consider purchasing a Scale Stop product?

If the members of your household are used to the soft water experience (the slippery feeling in the shower) then Scale Stop is not the best product for you. This feeling can only be accomplished by using a traditional water softener or conditioner.

If you have a new home and/or the plumbing has just been re-piped, you should wait for 60 to 90 days before having Scale Stop installed. New copper piping can leach small amounts of copper onto the Scale Stop resin which will cause pre-mature failure. For any new copper piping the water must be used during this waiting period.

At what level of water hardness will the Scale Stop product not be effective?

The manufacturer suggests that the harder the water the better Scale Stop will work. However, our “real world” experience suggests that if hardness is over 25 grains hard we are suggesting the HousePure Scale Stop not be purchased without fully understanding the benefits and limitations of the Scale Stop product.

I’m on a well, so how will Scale Stop perform in my house?

Before recommending the purchase of HousePure Scale Stop, the manufacturer needs to review your most recent water report. Certain water conditions that are common in private wells can affect the performance of Scale Stop technology. This in normally not an issue in municipally supplied water of any type.
